Chemicals that cause headaches

There are many chemicals known to cause headaches.

These include:

Lead- This is found in paints and cause headaches in children who ingest old worn out flakes of lead paint. Also found in lead batteries and glazed potteries.

Carbon tetrachloride - usually found in insecticides. It usually is the culprit in inducing headaches that are experienced just after insecticidal spray.

Sodium nitrite - present in processed food items such as hot dogs cause headaches among certain individuals.

Monosodium Glutamate - it is present in certain foods such as Chinese food, packaged food, soy sauce and meat tenderizer may cause severe headaches.

Benzene - usually used as a solvent and found in inks and turpentine. Industrial workers who are exposed to these solvents may experience headaches.

Drugs such as amphetamines may also cause headaches.
